The Barnabas Center offered a training in Crisis Counseling

The Barnabas Center distributed certificates to about forty people who attended the training on crisis counseling on Trama, Crisis and Grief. This 3-day training held on February 5, 6 and 7, 2009 at Hotel Le Plaza (Port-au-Prince) was well appreciated by the participants both for the content of the sessions and for the general organization of the seminar. The trainers were two American specialists: Dr. Daniel Green, PhD, is a licensed psychologist and the Clinical Director of New Life Resources, Inc. in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Visiting Professor at Charles University of Prague (Czech Republic); Rev. Robin Knoll is president of Inspiration Ministries and serves as Chaplain with the City of Waukesha, Wisconsin Police Department, concentrating on Crisis Response work and Pastoral Care.

The participants at the training came from 4 provinces in Haiti. They are committed to be available to their communities to intervene according to the new knowledge acquired at this seminar organized by the Barnabas Center. In his closing remarks, Prof Edner JEANTY, Executive Director of the Center, thanked the participants and announced that the audio CD of the sessions will be available soon. A new name, the same vision

The official name of the Barnabas Center is now the Barnabas Christian Leadership Center (BCLC). Thge name reflects the emphasis of the ministry on leadership training. It also clarifies that it operates from a Christian worldview. However, our vision remains the same as we seek to come alongside the pastoral leaders in the country and inspire excellence in leadership for the Christian ministries.

LEADHAITI delegation attends The Leadership Summit

LEADHAITI in partnership with the Barnabas Learning Center will bring the Global Leadership Summit to Haiti in November. A delegation attended the Leadership Summit at Community Covenant Church in Rehoboth, Massachussets, the major sponsor for this unique event in Haiti. On Saturday Edner Jeanty and Valery Vital-Herne (of LEADHAITI) and Pastor Dennis Barril, Ron Ware and Scott Martin (of CCC) flew to Chicago to attend a special meeting for the leaders of Global Leadership Summits that will be held in over 56 countries around the globe. Services offered by BLC

The following services are currently offered or will be provided soon:

· Training in leadership: we provide training opportunities in the areas of leadership principles and practice for Christian leaders, especially pastoral leaders in executive and management positions. We have hosted such events for international speakers who want to minister to key leaders in Haiti.

· Resources to strengthen families: we host retreats and seminars for couples.

· Evangelistic events : we host luncheons and lectures with seasoned international speakers and national experts on various topics of interest to the professional and business leaders. These events have an evangelistic purpose.

· Publishing : we publish newsletters, magazines, books, CDs & tapes to bring the Christian message and worldview into the homes and offices of people of influence. We do translation projects and open our distribution network for selected publications.

· Counseling : we will have an network of Christian counselors throughout the country so that people in need can find a qualified counselor in their region. We specialize in counseling training for clergy. We want to equip mature Christian leaders in premarital, financial/ stewardship, and trauma counseling.

· Helps (relief): we will serve as a reputable channel for funding worthwhile projects in Haiti.

· Consulting & research: we offer consulting services to churches and Christian organizations on leadership, management, fundraising, Bible training, Christian ethics, as well as social trends affecting the Christian community. We will use our network of key leaders and our critical thinking abilities to facilitate gatherings of top executives and young leaders to discuss issues, research solutions, and plan advocacy strategies for positive change in our world.

· Music & Art: we promote Christian musicians who can be ambassadors for the Christian message and worldview. We hold concerts and will have training for talented musicians. We hope to develop a concert circuit to bring the good Christian music to the local communities and to facilitate the marketing of the tapes and CDs.
